Satellite Broadband Systems
The world’s most advanced VSAT platform, with single stream DVB-S2X wideband forward channel, for broadband services over both high-throughput and conventional satellites.
The JUPITER™ System is next-generation very small aperture terminal (VSAT) platform from Hughes for broadband services over both high-throughput and conventional satellites. Featuring a flexible and robust gateway architecture with lights-out operation, enhanced IPoS air interface for bandwidth efficiency and performance, and high-throughput terminals, JUPITER enables operators to achieve the highest possible capacity and efficiency for any satellite broadband implementation. The foundational technology is the powerful JUPITER System on a Chip (SoC), a custom–designed VLSI processor employing a multi-core architecture and enabling 300 Mbps of throughput on every terminal within the JUPITER family.
A multi-service platform
As a result, operators of both HTS and conventional satellite networks can support the widest range of applications across all market sectors—from high-speed Internet access, to distance learning and digital signage/media solutions, to the most demanding enterprise and government networking solutions where strong security and QoS capabilities are paramount.
The JUPITER SoC
Every JUPITER terminal runs on the advanced JUPITER System on a Chip (SoC). An industry first, custom designed ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) with a multi-core architecture that enables every remote terminal to achieve 300 Mbps throughput.
Engineered based on software-definable modem (SDM) technology and Hughes scrambled code multiple access (SCMA) waveform, the HM System brings cost-effective and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) communications products and solutions ideal for government applications.
HN & HX Systems
The Hughes HN and HX systems are one of the most advanced and widely deployed satellite systems around the world.
Owned and operated by Hughes to provide Hughes broadband services in North America, Europe, India, and Brazil the same HN and HX systems are also available to operators, enterprises, and governments who wish to operate their own satellite broadband services. Utilizing geostationary satellite coverage available from a choice of operators worldwide, the comprehensive family of Hughes broadband solutions provides the capability to deliver broadband IP services virtually anywhere.
Optimized for broadband IP services, Hughes systems support a wide variety of applications, from high-speed Internet/intranet access, to video conferencing, to voice (VoIP), and adhere to industry standards for voice, video, and serial data protocols.
Hughes broadband satellite systems are compliant with IPoS, including DVB-S2 with Adaptive Coding Modulation (ACM), the world’s most successful satellite industry standard, approved by TIA in North America, ETSI and ITU in Europe, and together with Hughes-patented technology advantages provide unsurpassed capabilities for broadband applications and services.
