In HughesNet SME - “Broadband for Business”, data exchange is through satellite with a VSAT installed at customer’s location.

Voice and Video can be run on this network but one needs to have an appropriate plan of higher download speed due to the inherent requirement of high bandwidth by this type of data. The service plans published in this website HAVE NOT been designed for Voice and Video. These service plans are meant for pure DATA.

How long does it take to start the service?

Once the documents are received complete in all respect, you can expect to get the service running within 15 days of time.

How do I get started with the service?

The customer would need to have a Satellite Router (Hardware) at his premises, get it installed before he can avail of the “Broadband for Business” Service.

For Hardware, there are two options :
(a) Either you can purchase the hardware outright
or
(b) You can avail of a rental option (This is a scheme launched in selected areas and for limited period of time)

Service charges would have to be paid monthly/quarterly/half yearly/annually in advance based on the service plan chosen by the customer. If the customer has opted for the Rental Scheme, then the monthly hardware rental also has to be paid monthly/quarterly/half yearly/annually in advance.

How do I choose the correct service plan for my organization?

Each service plan has suggested number of CONCURRENT USERS and THE SPEED REQUIRED. Appropriate service plans should be chosen based on the requirement for the particular site based on the above two parameters.

Concurrent users are the number of users, i.e. THE NUMBER OF USERS ACCESSING THE SYSTEM AT ANY GIVEN POINT OF TIME. THIS IS NOT THE NUMBER OF PCs IN THE LAN. TYPICALLY CONCURRENT USERS WOULD BE 35% - 50% OF THE TOTAL NUMBER OF PCs IN THE LOCAL AREA NETWORK.
