- Payment
Authorisation Services
Hughes Payment Authorisation Service
is best suited to retail sector targeted specifically
to retail outlets that provide option of credit
card as payment. As a normal practice these
outlets use dial-up for connecting to the bank's
network for payment authorization. This practice
has certain problems. A transaction to the bank
via a dial-up line takes around 10-15 seconds
and these 10-15 seconds add up to a lot of delay
in a high volume retail environment in turn
adding on to the waiting time at customer’s
end. Also, a single transaction costs about
Rs. 1.2 on a dial-up line. Hence, the cumulative
cost comes out to be very high with increase
in no. of transactions.
Hughes Payment authorization service offers
an array of benefits and features to solve
these problems. Hughes has come up with a
system wherein a retail outlet is connected
to the Hughes network and Hughes takes care
of processing the transaction with the bank.
Hughes has established connectivity and working
agreements with most of the card acquiring
banks like HDFC, ICICI, HSBC etc. This is
a fully managed end-to-end service backed
by the HughesNet Global satellite broadband
service.
The Payment authorization service also has
options for integrating the swipe terminal
with the retail software so that proper reconciliation
takes place. The major benefits of this service
are less processing time and transaction takes
place at low cost.
